Arrow of Time

(12/26/2017) When I made this piece I had been thinking a lot about entropy, or disorder, and how it relates to everything that makes up our lives. There is a concept in physics called the Arrow of Time that states that time travels in a single direction, and disorder tends to increase over time. This can be seen in the everyday, from the decomposition of once living things to the increasing complexity of our own lives. I decided to have a single line descending from the sky, from the ordered past, into a state of abstraction, of different forms and shapes, representing the disorder that occurs with the passing of time. I wanted to keep it similar in hue, to contrast the light blue sky, and in the shape of an arrow to show the irreversibility of time.
