In collaboration with City District Orlando and their Downtown Art Box Program
(12/01/2023) The focus of this design is based on the characteristics
of the Dolive Building that this box is attached to. The Dolive building was built in the early 1900s by Silas Dolive, who, like many others, came to Orlando in the hopes of profiting from the booming citrus industry. The front of the box is based off of the mediterranean architectural style of the Dolive Building, with a citrus picker in the center, picking citrus using traditional methods. Circling this building are citrus plants which go around to the two sides. On one side, there is the City Arts building and an antique car, and in the window above is the F-4 Phantom II jet from Lake Underhill Park. The other side takes advantage of a protruding section of the box as a porch.
The top is mediterranean style roofing which mirror that of the Dolive Building.
The bike is a nod to Silas Dolive’s bicycle, which was supposedly the first bike in Orlando
